SHOW DESCRIPTION: Ballet folklórico is the name for Mexico’s ballroom dance, a choreography that has origins in dances from nineteenth-century Europe. Ballet Folklorico is not only a significant thread in the cultural fabric of Mexico, it is part of California’s history, and squarely that of San Diego, the very origin of our state.  DanzArt’s “Sabor México Theatrical Company” and “Children’s Dance Academy” will take you on journey of music and dance throughout Mexico, as they showcase the lively and rich regions of Chiapas, Nuevo Leon, Guerrero, Baja California, and Jalisco.

The music and costuming is varied and unique to each region. Attendees will be mesmorized by the Vibrant hand-crafted costumes, as well as the be tantalized by the melodies of the “conjuntos” whose instruments consist of violins, guitars, harps and drums.

Director/ Choreographer: Patricia Astorga-Casey
