In The Whispering Directions, somebodies dance theater gives “the impression that each movement originates deep in the body and spreads through every cell.” It is an equally sensuous and athletic work inspired by nine months of living between the serenity of the Mediterranean Sea and the terror of war in the Middle East.
Choreographers Gina Bolles Sorensen and Kyle Sorensen are joined by eight of San Diego’s most adventurous dancers in the world premier of this luscious and risky new work.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS: somebodies dance theater is a contemporary dance company that has presented work to critical acclaim throughout the United States and in international venues including the Ailey Citigroup Theater (New York), ODC Theater (San Francisco), Warehouse 2 (Tel Aviv-Yafo), JSB TEK BOX Theater (Minneapolis), and the Instituto de Cultura de Baja California (Tijuana) among others. Artistic Directors, Gina Bolles Sorensen and Kyle Sorensen, have been recent recipients of the San Diego Young Choreographers Prize, the National Artist Teacher Fellowship, and a Fulbright Fellowship in Dance. Their unique model for dance technique, SubtleBodyBigDance, can be experienced Thursday evenings in San Diego.
